Fosse 5 Church Walk

Fosse 5 Church Walk – Monday 7th May 2018

Welcome to our website!

We would like to thank everyone who joined our Fosse 5 walk on Monday 7th May, and all of the volunteers who helped make the walk a success.

The weather worked in our favour, perhaps a little too hot, none the less 141 walkers took part, and we raised a total of over £2,500 for the nominated charities.

Thanks again to all who took part and helped raise this excellent amount, and with this encouragement we will think about making this annual event!

May we invite you to join us on BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY on the 7th May 2018 for our very first fund raising walk around the five churches of the Fosse Group. With your support we hope to make this a regular event, so come and join in and be one of the first to take part.

We hope to raise much needed funds to help towards the on going maintenance and upkeep of the fabric of the beautiful old churches of the Fosse Group and a number of local charities and at the same time making the day a sociable family occasion with free refreshments for all, including dogs!

Coffee, tea and sandwiches will also be available along the route, at very reasonable prices!

The circular, clockwise route around the five churches will be fully signed and a map and directions will be handed to all walkers at your chosen starting point.  If you complete the whole route you will have walked the best part of 12 miles.
The approximate distances between the churches on the route are:

East Bridgford to Kneeton 2.5 miles
Kneeton to Flintham 2.75 miles
Flintham to Screveton 3.25 miles
Screveton to Car Colston 0.75 miles
Car Colston to East Bridgford 2.75 miles

You can start and stop at any of the five churches. Start when you like between 8.30 am and 10.30 am. Volunteers will be on hand at each church until 4.00 pm. The route is mostly off-road using lanes and footpaths.

Please make every effort to raise sponsorship if you can, in which case use the Entry Sponsorship Form. However if you wish to walk without sponsorship that’s okay, but please use the Entry Form  instead.

We will be supporting 2 local schools & Dove Cottage Day Hospice, in addition to our 5 churches.

May we suggest that in these circumstances a minimum donation of £5 per adult walker. There is no maximum!

Both forms can be downloaded from this site and are available from all of the churches, East Bridgford News and The Post Office.

Toilets are available at St Peter’s East Bridgford, St Mary’s Car Colston and the Village Hall Flintham.

At your chosen starting point and before setting out all walkers are asked to register by handing in your completed Entry or Sponsorship Form having ticked the boxes as how your donation is to allocated to one or more of the churches/charities listed.
Your Entry Form will then be exchanged for a numbered “Passport” which should be presented on arrival at each church visited and the time recorded.

Can I Gift Aid my donation? Yes please, by signing the declaration on your
Entry Form and asking those who have sponsored you to sign the declaration
(all who sign must be UK tax payers) we can claim an additional 25%.

Please bring with you to your starting point your Entry Form with your
donation and/or sponsorship. Any cheques should be made payable to:
PCC of East Bridgford. If you haven’t collected all your sponsorship on the
day, then please send to the address on the Entry Form by 31st May.

Why PCC of East Bridgford? Because the PCC of East Bridgford is
responsible for all the organisation connected with the walk and is
registered with HMRC to collect Gift Aid Tax credit on eligible donations.
Don’t worry, your sponsorship together with any tax credits raised for
your nominated church or charity will be passed on after all funds have
been collected. Honest!

We will divide your money raised by the number of “ticks” on your
Entry Form, i.e. 2 ticks means 50% to each.

So why not join us , and leave the hustle and bustle of the Bank Holiday behind, and at the same time help to make a real contribution to our villages and communities.

We would be grateful if you would register your interest and give us an idea of how many people we expect to take part:
